- Description: Rockstar closed a trailer with a three-year-old house record and sent its streams up 1,070% overnight. That's not a nostalgia bump — it's a new distribution machine every label is about to chase.

**A three-year-old house record just went supernova because a video game trailer used it for ninety seconds.** Elderbrook and Bob Moses' 'Inner Light,' out since 2021, closed the 'GTA VI: An Extended Look' premiere on Netflix — and Spotify put a hard number on what that's worth: global streams up **1,070%**, playlist additions up **4,155%**.

That ain't a nostalgia bump. That's Rockstar quietly becoming the biggest music-discovery engine on the planet.

## The math is the whole story

Labels spend years and real money trying to move a catalog track back into the conversation. Rockstar did it with one placement, before the game is even out. A record most casual fans forgot about is suddenly climbing charts it never touched the first time around.

When a single sync can quadruple a song's playlist reach, the sync stops being a nice bonus line on the royalty statement. It becomes the plan.

## What happens next is predictable

- **Every label pitches Rockstar's music team.** The inbox over there is about to get real heavy.
- **Artists start writing for placement.** Not for radio, not for the club — for the trailer, the loading screen, the in-game station.
- **Catalog gets re-valued.** An old track with the right mood is now a lottery ticket, and publishers know it.

## The catch

Here's the part that should keep you honest: a discovery engine this strong picks *for* you. When one trailer can decide what millions of people stream this month, taste starts getting outsourced to whoever's cutting the game.

'Inner Light' earned its second life — it's a genuinely great record, and it's good to see Elderbrook and Bob Moses cash in on it. But the blueprint it just wrote is bigger than one song. GTA didn't license a track. It rewrote how a track breaks.
