Effective November 3, 2026. Electronic Dispatch LLC, a California limited liability company ("Electronic Dispatch", "we", "us").
This page explains what personal information Electronic Dispatch collects when you read the site, subscribe to the newsletter, or send us something, what we do with it, and what choices you have. We keep it short on purpose.
The short version
- We collect very little: an email address if you subscribe, and whatever you choose to send us in a form or an email.
- We do not sell your information, and we do not use it to profile you for advertising.
- You can unsubscribe at any time and ask us to delete what we hold about you.
What we collect
Newsletter and membership. If you subscribe, we collect your email address (and your name if you give it). Our site runs on Ghost, which stores subscriber records and sends the newsletter. Ghost sets a first-party cookie when you sign in or subscribe so the site can recognise you.
Submission and pitch forms. The forms for music, events, and story pitches collect what you type: your name, email address, and the details of your submission (for example, event name, date, venue, lineup, links). By ticking the consent box you let us store these details in a private submissions database so the editor can review them and reply to you. The forms are run on Vercel and the database is hosted by Neon; only the editor can read it. Please do not put passwords or sensitive personal information in these forms.
Email you send us. If you write to us (for example, to hello@electronicdispatch.com, corrections@electronicdispatch.com, or with a tip), we keep the message and your address so we can respond. If you send a tip, we do not name you as a source unless you ask us to.
Basic visit data. Like any website, our servers and hosting provider receive technical information when you load a page: IP address, browser type, device type, the page you asked for, and the page that referred you. We use Ghost's built-in web analytics to count visits and see which stories people read; Ghost processes that data for us. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or other third-party trackers.
Payments. Music and mix submissions have a $10 application fee (see Submit). You pay it through Stripe's hosted checkout. Stripe collects your name, email address, and payment details and processes the payment under its own privacy policy; we receive confirmation of the payment, your name, and your email address so we can match it to your submission and refund it if needed. We do not see or store your full card number. The fee is collected through the Stripe account of Covenant Art, so the checkout page and your card statement show COVENANT ART, not "Electronic Dispatch".
Content from other companies
Some pages load content from other companies, and those companies can see your IP address and that you visited the page:
- Fonts: Google Fonts and Bunny Fonts.
- Embedded players and links: Spotify, SoundCloud, Mixcloud, and Bandcamp, only on pages where we embed their player.
- Maps: map tiles from Esri (ArcGIS), CARTO, and OpenStreetMap, and the Leaflet map library (served by unpkg), on the events calendar.
- Images: some photos are loaded directly from Wikimedia Commons, and the rest from Ghost's storage.
- Site features: Ghost's member sign-up, search, and analytics scripts (served by jsDelivr and Ghost).
- Payments: Stripe, when you pay the submission fee.
These companies have their own privacy policies. If you do not want them to receive your information, you can block third-party content in your browser, though some parts of the site may not work.
How we use information
- To send the newsletter you asked for, and to run the site.
- To review submissions, pitches, and tips, and to reply to people who write to us.
- To understand what readers find useful, so we can make a better publication.
- To keep the site secure and to prevent abuse and spam.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not use it for advertising. Nobody can pay for coverage, and nobody can buy access to our subscriber list.
Who else handles your information
We use service providers to run the site: Ghost (publishing, membership, analytics, and newsletter delivery, including its email-sending provider), Stripe (payment of the submission fee), Vercel and Neon (hosting and database for the submission forms and our editorial tools), and our email provider. They process information for us and may not use it for their own purposes. We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect our rights or someone's safety.
How long we keep it
We keep subscriber records until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. We keep submissions, pitches, and tips for as long as we need them to review and respond, and to keep a record of editorial decisions, for up to 24 months. Then we delete or anonymise them. We may keep a limited record if we need it to meet a legal obligation or to prevent repeat spam.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe with the link at the bottom of any newsletter, or email us.
- Access, correct, or delete your information: email
hello@electronicdispatch.comfrom the address we hold. We will respond within 30 days. - California residents may have rights under California privacy law, including the right to know what personal information a business collects, to ask for deletion or correction, and to be free of discrimination for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, email us at the address above.
- Cookies: you can clear or block cookies in your browser. If you do, you may be signed out and some features may stop working.
Do Not Track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no common standard for responding to it, so the site does not change its behaviour when it receives one. We do not track you across other websites either way.
Children
Electronic Dispatch is a publication for adults, and some events we list are 18+ or 21+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, including access controls on our submissions database and on Ghost. No system is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If the change is significant (for example, we start using a new analytics or advertising tool), we will say so on this page before it starts.
