Mixes here are embed-only — pulled straight from the artist's SoundCloud or Mixcloud, with the artist's branding, artwork, and play counts intact. We don't re-host, we don't strip, we don't gatekeep.

Selection criteria

  • Technical execution. Mixing is craft. We listen for it.
  • Track selection. A 90-minute mix is also a small essay on what the selector thinks the room needs. We're paying attention.
  • Sequencing and arc. Where the mix starts, where it ends, what it does in the middle.
  • Context. A residency set on a Wednesday night at a 200-cap room is a different artifact from a closing set at a festival. We say which.

  • Friday Sessions — guest mixes from artists outside the LA circuit
  • Residencies — resident DJs at venues we cover
  • Label showcases — A&R-led mixes that double as label primers
  • In the Booth — long-form sets from artists profiled in Features

What we won't do

  • Pay-to-feature placements
  • Strip artist branding to white-label the player
  • Re-host audio to inflate our own metrics
  • Run mixes from artists whose music we've reviewed within the prior 30 days (cooldown to keep the verdict-and-the-mix from looking like the same favor)
